BCT Test

BCT test

A BCT test stands for Box Compression Test and this is used to test the compressive strength of a box. It is used to evaluate the strength of the boxes we have produced in our factory. We execute a BCT test in our own lab. This lab is maintained under strict conditions, so all BCT tests are performed with the same conditions. A special testing machine is used to perform the package compression test.

The boxes tested during a BCT test are placed between two steel plates, and they push with an increasing pressure to each other. At one moment the box crashes and this is the moment you know your BCT value. The results of a BCT test is depending on different items:

  • Construction of the box
  • Size of the box
  • Moisture in the box and in the environment
  • Handling of the box before the test
  • Is the box printed or plain
  • Flutes in the corrugated board
  • Contents of the box
