At the beginning of 2023, De Jong Packaging will receive a new production location. This new factory will double the current capacity. But this is not the only benefit of the new factory. The new techniques also bring many benefits for the environment and the staff. In this blog post we will tell you what these are.
Sustainable building Since 2020, work has been underway on the construction of a new modern factory. With this new location, a lot of attention will be paid to sustainability and circularity. For example De Jong Packaging wants to reduce their carbon footprint, despite the expansion. This means that this new building will be one of the most sustainable buildings in the region. For example, many sustainable materials were used during construction. In addition, De Jong Packaging will soon have installed more than 3.8 MWp of solar panels, which is enough power to provide 1,000 households with electricity.
There is also a lot of circularity within the factory. For example, the residual heat from the corrugated cardboard machines will be used to heat the office buildings.
Safety The safety of our employees is always our number one priority. And with the arrival of the new factory, this will only improve even more. There will be even more automation in this new factory. This will not only result in less strenuous work, but also in a safer environment. For example, the new factory will have a fully automated paper roll warehouse, which will reduce the need for forklift trucks and make it safer for our employees.
Walkways have also been installed throughout the factory. As a result, employees no longer have to move across the production floor. This will ensure more order and safety within the production process.
The factory The factory that is being built in De Lier is a special building. This production location has two floors. This means that this factory will add approximately 95,000 m2 to the existing industrial park of De Jong Verpakking. At this factory, the rolls of paper will enter on the ground floor and the pallets with cardboard will leave on the top floor. To get a visual picture of this, you could look at our construction page, which contains several videos of the entire construction process.
