How is corrugated being made?
Corrugated cardboard is produced by gluing 3 layers of paper together. The middle layer of paper is a flute. You can see this by looking inside at the side of the corrugated cardboard. The height of the flute can vary. It is also possible to produce double corrugated cardboard, where you can see 2 flutes. This corrugated board is then further processed in the factory on our processing machines. There the boxes are printed, possibly folded and glued. These are then delivered to the customer on pallets or go through the erecting hall and are then delivered to the customer as erected trays.

What is preprint?
What is postprint?
Postprint is an indirect Flexo printing technique we use in our factory. On our processing machines we print the boxes and trays after that corrugated is being made. That is why you call it postprint.
How many people work in the company?
On our location in De Lier work about 600 people in the factory, erecting center, transport and offices.
How sustainable is your corrugated?
Corrugated cardboard is a very sustainable product. Our corrugated board is 100% biobased, is 100% recyclable and 100% biodegradable. In addition, a major advantage of corrugated cardboard is that it is easy to reduce in volume, which makes the return flow very efficient. Also, fresh products can be kept 3 days longer in corrugated cardboard than in plastic, so that corrugated cardboard also helps to reduce food waste.
Do you use recycled papers?
More than 80% recycled paper is used in our production of packaging. Unfortunately, use of 100% recycled paper is not possible, because paper cannot be recycled indefinitely. A small part of virgin paper therefore have to be added.
What do you do about sustainability?
Sustainability is very important to us. Corrugated board is already an incredibly beautiful and sustainable product, but of course we do a lot more. You can read this in our CSR document where we annually describe what we do about sustainability.
What is a FSC(R) certificate?
De Jong Packaging is FSC® certified (Licence number FSC-C108472; Certificate number: CU-COC-818959). FSC certification means that the forests are managed sustainably and are therefore preserved. In Europe, the forests are even growing. All products that come from FSC-certified forests are therefore demonstrably from sustainably managed forests and, if supplied by an FSC-certified company, can be provided with an FSC label. The purchase of FSC certified products can therefore contribute to the sustainable entrepreneurship of your organization.
